La Casa Oberta

The open house is an imaginary reconstruction. A timeless narration with protagonists from different times. The house as a theater of memory. Time encapsulated in a house. Multiple layers shot one on top of the other in 16 mm film open the doors of family memory. A journey through death, mourning and birth as a reflection on presence and absence. An attempt to bring the family back together.
Direction: Julieta Lasarte
Julieta Lasarte is a director and visual artist from Barcelona. She studied Art History at the University of Barcelona and Audiovisual Communication at the Ramon Llull University. After a decade dedicated to the audiovisual sector as Assistant Director in film and advertising, she decides to develop her first film in 2018 while she is doing her Master in Creative Documentary at EICTV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. In 2019 she is selected as a project in development in the DocsBarcelona lab. In 2020 she obtains a grant from AADK Spain and participates in an artistic residency program where she develops a video installation project. In 2021 she directs the short film Perdices. In 2022 she writes and directs her first documentary short film La Casa Oberta. Her interest in family memories leads her to recover and preserve home videos and found footage. Her projects navigate between the experimentation of analog image and technological innovation.
