O Corpo Aberto

Miguel is assigned as a teacher to a remote village where the border between the living and the dead is diluted among many others. There, a wandering spirit will make him discover his own limits.

Born in Gijón in 1974. With a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of Oviedo and a diploma in Practical Filmmaking from the Met Film School in London. During her stay in England, she directed fiction short films such as Normal People or The Fetch, the latter title with a very extensive tour in international festivals. In 2017 he released his first feature film, Esquece Monelos (Olvida Monelos), a non-fiction film that tells the story of a river buried and turned into a sewer under the streets of A Coruña, which was nominated for the Feroz Awards in the category of Best Documentary. The film also won three Mestre Mateo awards (Best Documentary, Best Cinematography and Best Editing), as well as the Special Mention of the Jury at Documenta Madrid 17, among other awards. Esquece Monelos is one of the four films chosen this year for the “Óperas primeras” cycle, co-organized by the SGAE Foundation and the Cervantes Institute. He is currently working on his second feature film, O Corpo Aberto, a gothic Western set on the Galician-Portuguese border in the early 20th century, as well as on the script for La Nadadora, Sandra Sánchez’s new project.
